SCHOOL INTRODUCTION

Matale Zahira College is located in quiet surrounding in the central hill country in the city of Matale. This school started functioning as a mixed school from 04th of August 1942. In the year 1944 this institute became a branch of Colombo Zahira and was named as Matale Zahira College. The first principal to take over office was Mr.A.R.M Nilam in 1947. This school become an independent school in the year 1954. It was an upgraded as an intermediate school and was shifted to Tharalanda road In the Matale district. In 1960, this become a boy`s school under the management of the director of the education. This reputed school was upgraded a national school on 1st of June 1994, and presently function with 1900 students and 105 teachers in its path of success in the city of Matale
